Massage Techniques
Swedish- This European technique uses long, fluid strokes to calm the body, settle the mind and restore lost energy. It is gentle, soothing and emphasizes relaxation.
Sports- A compression treatment especially designed for pre- and post- athletic events and is used to alleviate the tension that accumulates during physical activity. Stretching may be incorporated.
Deep Tissue- A more vigorous stroke is used to reduce muscle tension, relieve swelling, enhance circulation and promote flexibility.
Lomi Lomi- Pressure can be light or deep and consists of rhythmic, flowing forearm strokes to relax muscles, increase circulation, and promote overall well-being.
Balinese- A holistic treatment that combines acupressure, reflexology, stretching and aromatherapy to stimulate circulation, ease muscular and joint pain, and bring a sense of wellbeing, calm and deep relaxation.
Neuromuscular Massage- typically called Trigger point, focuses on reducing the cycle of pain caused by overworked or injured muscle tissue. Applying pressure to points throughout the body sends messages to the brain that it is overworked and should release. Therefore lower your pain level.
Reflexology- This eastern technique is based on stimulating specific pressure points on the hands and feet that correspond to organs of the body. It is used to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium by improving circulation, detoxification, and reducing tension.
Cupping- A Chinese medicine therapy in which cups are applied to the skin creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy and assists in pulling toxins from the body.
Stretching Massage- General massage to warm up the body before a manual deep Active Release stretch.
